Universal’s Islands of Adventure: An Adventure All Its Own

Universal's Islands of Adventure is one of the two main theme parks inside Universal Orlando Resort. This side of the resort focuses more on fantasy and a thrilling adventure whereas Universal Studios is based more on TV shows and movies for a milder experience. To arrive at the Port of Entry for Islands of Adventure, you can either walk the short distance from the main entrance or take the four minutes train ride from King's Cross Station on the Hogwarts Express that will drop you off in the middle of Hogsmeade. Just remember to buy Park-to-Park admission tickets!

Upon entering Marvel Superhero Island as soon as you walk into the resort, you will notice one of the most eye-popping rides, The Incredible Hulk Coaster, is located on the left. This exciting roller coaster will make you feel weightless through all seven loops at a top speed of 67 miles per hour. Do you think this ride won't be enough to get your adrenaline going? Tackle Doctor Doom's Fearfall with a 185-foot speedy acceleration toward the sky and then quickly drop back down to the ground. In addition, there is also a 3D attraction where you have the opportunity to feel like Spider-Man swinging above the streets, building to building.

Riding the superheroes rides will be a thrill of its own, but do you and your family dream of meeting your favorite Marvel heroes? Spider-Man, Captain America, and other characters are known for making an appearance. Once you enter the resort, make sure you look up the time scheduled for their debuts.

Toon Lagoon is jam-packed with refreshing water rides. Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls will give you both comedy and a thrill ride. Around every turn is a pun or joke from the animated series, but the joke will be on your once you are dropped from 75 feet down to a soaking splash. Another drenchingly fun ride is Popeye & Bluto's Bilge-Rat Barges. This ride seats 12 people, and you will need all the help you can get to navigate around the rapids to save Olive. Right next door is the Me Ship, The Olive where spectators can fire water cannons at you while you cruise along.

Along with rides, Toon Lagoon also has a competitive side! There are a vast amount of games for all ages to play and win prizes of all kinds.

Dinosaurs, Jurassic Park is full of them! There are many attractions to experience, all of whom have their own unique adventure. River Adventure is a water ride that brings you face-to-face with a Tyrannosaurus Rex! At first, it will seem calm, but then you will be whisked into the "restricted area" and then down an 85-foot drop. After that excitement, go by and meet Blue, the newest addition to the raptor pack. You will learn an array of facts about raptors then given the opportunity to take a picture with Blue. Be careful though, raptors were the most intelligent thieves of carnivorous dinosaurs; she may try to take your wallet and treat herself to a steak dinner later.

Visit the world of Dr. Seuss at Seuss Landing. This whimsical area is a great attraction to bring children; they can experience gentle rides and get lost in their imagination. The Cat in the Hat attraction will whirl you through the pages of the well-known book, and you can steer your own fish through an obstacle course of fountains at One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish.

If you take the Hogwarts Express from King's Cross Station, then you will find yourself at the center of Hogsmeade! Here you will have the opportunity to visit the Three Broomsticks and drink butterbeer with the Hogwarts castle on the horizon. After you are full on butterbeer, tour the castle on The Forbidden Journey attraction to see where Hermione learned and where Ron ate! This multidimensional experience will then take you above the ground of the Quidditch field to fly side by side with Harry Potter!

On scheduled nights, the castle comes alive with color! Lights and music join in a beautiful production that showcases each of the Hogwarts houses. It truly is an amazing show to end your day at Universal.
